TERRY'S 2009 MATCH REPORT'S

Ossett Central Angling Club held their latest match last sunday at Pool Bridge Farm near York.

It was a very inconsistent match with the resident carp only showing in certain pegs. Mark Bradley drew his usual plum peg that he seems to have been doing all year to show all the other anglers the way home.

The result was 1st    Mark Bradley 451b-5oz  corn/meat
                     2nd   Paul Walker  331b-14oz meat
                     3rd   Mally Evans   201b-15oz worm/caster

This was the last points match of the season and Mally Evans confirmed his late surge of form to become club champion, It was very disappointing for Dave Shires who had lead the field for most of the season and was runner up for the second season.

The annual Christmas match will be held on Sunday November the 8th at Kerr Angling Centres Ben Lee Lakes in Horbury. This event is a memorial match that is dedicated to a much loved longstanding member of the club Ray Birch who sadly died last year

Ossett Central Angling Club held their latest match last sunday at Murphy's Ponds at York.

The weights' were lower than expected however Tony Dews drew the plum peg (as usual) and finished well  ahead of the other competitors. He caught a near 12 ib carp that made up most of his weight

This venue proved to be very peggy with only a few competitors breaking the double figure mark,

Te result was
                   1st Tony Dews  18ib-5oz Meat/Sweetcorn
                   2nd Les Wa;lker 10-10oz Meat/Pellet
                   3rd Tony Shires  10-00oz Meat/Sweetcorn

With only 2 matches to go a new leader has emerged where Mally Evans has taken over from long time leader Dave Shires who has not had particularly good draws over the last few matches and has faded badly. This is a shame as Dave was caught on the final match last year and was really gutted and was intent on winning it this year. He still could if the draw bag is kind to him

The next match is a week on sunday at The Hundred Oakes Fishery in North Yorkshire

Ossett Central Angling Club held their latest match last sunday at Gasqoin Wood fishing lakes,

It didn't fish as well as expected however Mally Evans tempted the resident carp with the pole using sweetcorn and pellet. Mark Bradley was pegged in a normally prolific area and lost 6 good fish in the morning that could have won him the match.

The result was 1st Mally Evans    361b-15oz
                     2nd Mark Bradley  221b-04oz
                      3rd Dave Shires   191b-15oz

Paul Walker fell into the lake whilst tackling up and ended up fishing the match in is underwear which brought a lot of fun to the match with various jovial remarks throughout the day.

The race to become club champion has changed yet again with only 3 matches to go.

Ian Stevenson had a bad match by his standards and lost valuable points that has cost him the lead.

The current Leading bunch are as follows   1st Dave Shires       208 points
                                                          2nd Ian Stevenson   203 points
                                                          3rd  Mally Evans       190 points

It looks like being between these three for the title

The next match is this sunday at Murphy's Ponds at York

                     3rd Mally Evans     461b -7oz

Nearly all the fish were caught on the pole line alternating between pellet, meat, and maggot.

The race to become club champion is realy  hotting up as last years runner up Dave Shires was leading the pack before this match. He failed however to catch a a lot of fish and lost a lot of valuble points points. He has now been caught at the top by Ian Stevenson with Mally Evans not far behind. There are 5 matches to go though and the leadership could change yet again.
